1.  What is your Policy on Returns/Exchanges/Refunds? 

If you don't love it or it arrives damaged, return it.

     Returns of Original Art: If you are not happy with your original art piece, you may return it for a full credit of the cost (excluding shipping charges) by following these simple steps:
         1.    email mark@markgranlund.com to inform me that you will be returning a piece of art
         2.    Ship your item back to me in its original packaging within two weeks of receiving it. I strongly encourage you to return the item via a trackable method. Returns Address:

         3. Once I have received the art I will reimburse you for the full amount paid for the painting within 7 days.

2. Financing of Purchases

I do provide the financing of purchases. I like to paint big and that means my paintings can be a significant investment. I am open to financing a purchase whether its two payments or two years of payments. Each situation is unique, so feel free to contact me about financing a purchase.

3.  What materials do you use and what is the quality of the work?

Many of the still-lifes of food are painted on cradled wood panels. The landscapes and all other paintings are painted on stretched 10 duck canvas. I make my own stretchers and wood panels in a wood shop attached to my studio. The wood substrate is made of pine or poplar and is cross-grained to prevent warping. The canvas and panels each receive three layers of ground or primer before being painted. The canvases, generally, have the images painted around the sides. I make my own canvases and panels to assure that, if framed and displayed properly, my paintings will last for generations.

4.  You mention your works will last for a long time if properly framed, matted and displayed - what is the best way to do this?

For both original paintings and prints, display the work out of direct sunlight. Direct sunlight is the number one issue with the durability of art work, especially for prints on paper.

For paintings, avoid extremely humid conditions and clean once a year. If there is dust on the painting, simply remove dust with a duster or mild compressed air. Every few years, a mild cleaner, like glass cleaner, can be sprayed on a lint-free cloth (do not spray directly on the painting) and used to wipe down the surface of the painting. If you go many years (15 years or more) without cleaning the painting, please take it to a frame shop or art conservator to have it cleaned.

Many of my paintings wrap the image around the edges of the canvas and do not need a frame to hide the sides. Frames are always welcome, as they can help protect and compliment the work.

Of course, proper handling of the art is important. Do not drop it and use the appropriate hanging hardware so it does not fall off the wall.

5. Do you sell fine art prints of your paintings?

I do not sell fine art prints of my paintings. I am interested creating and selling one-of-a-kind original artworks. To me, my art are objects, not images. These are objects that I have infused with my personal energy, from making the stretcher, to priming the canvas, to interpreting the subject. Once they are in your home they receive your personal energy which combines with what I have invested. Prints do not share this same sense of "aliveness."

6.   Do you give any proceeds from sales to organizations?

I do, annually, give some of the proceeds from sales to Minnesota and Wisconsin organizations that support the environment.
